Relief Update: September 21st, 2017.
-Tim Darms of our partner Water Mission arrived in St. Martin on Monday, 11 SEP. He is berthed with the Samaritan's Purse team outside of a hotel near the airport. Cell phone coverage on the island is being slowly restored so he has access to data/text.
-Since his arrival, he has completed 6 assessments and has installed 3 RO units. One RO(reverse osmosis)was setup to support disaster relief personnel and the other two were installed together to support a local community assessed by Tim and SP WASH personnel. He has gone back to the local community to train a few community members on how to properly operate and distribute the water.
-Through contact with Got Lift, Michael Rettig, WM has found another site for a RO install. Tim assessed this location and determined it to be a good fit and will install the unit on Saturday.
-WM has received word from OFDA that the French company, Veolia, has arrived on the island and is beginning repairs to the municipal desalination unit. No timeline on restoration of water to the island has been provided yet.
-Thanks to the efforts of two of Water Mission's volunteers they were able to get an additional load of equipment on board an SP flight that will arrive today.
